Woody
Check out this link : http://www.blackvoicenews.com/content/view/43465/3/ Quote: Chuck Berry and Little Richard Together in Concert Thursday, 03 September 2009 By Cheryl Brown – Looking at the crowd that came to see the legends Chuck Berry and Little Richard perform last week at San Manuel Casino, one could see all ages were out to lose themselves in the music. First on stage was Little Richard dressed in pure white with rhinestones. His high energy performance had the crowd on their feet. Rock and Roll legend Little Richard performs at San Manuel Casino. He threw rolled up posters into the audience introducing them to his book- “Finding Peace Within”, the teachings of Ellen G. White founder of the Seventh Day Adventist faith. “This has been his ministry for 20 years,” said Richard’s sister Freka Merrell. The books were quickly grabbed up along with the autographed photo in the inside cover. Giving up the Rock-n-Roll lifestyle in the 1970s he attended Oakwood College, a theological college in Alabama, eventually becoming an ordained minister in the Seventh Day Adventist faith. Many fans were glued to his book during intermission. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. GreatLakesGramma
Since it's a recent news story, it doesn't qualify as an urban legend. Stan
I have met with Little Richard a couple of times when he came into the ABC that I managed. The only way you can get his autograph is on a picture that is in a book that is a combination of 'Steps to Christ', and 'Sanctified Life'. In real life is he is 'soft talker', his job as a performer is definitely not a 'soft talker'. He has been a good witness for adventism amount the Hollywood elite. Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted September 19, 2009 Moderators Share Posted September 19, 2009 I have followed Little Richard for many years. AS far as a formal relationship with the SDA Chruch is concerned he seemingly has been in and out. Currently he seems to have settled on a relationship that continues. He came to Ft. Bragg as an evangelist while I was living there. But, I beleive that he was an independent evangelist who was not formally recognized by the SDA CHruch. ye, he clearly talked about ADventism. I think that Richards should be credited with the relationshlp that he has maintained with the SDA Chruch, even if informal in some aspects. I could be wrong, but I do not beleive that he ever became an ordained SDA Minister. I will suggest that the news item may have him mixed up with Davis who was ordaind and became the co-star of a top rated TV Show. Stan
His credentials as an ordained minister were issued by the Southern California Conference when I was there. He was employed by the South Eastern California Conference at one time. Much as Stan wanted my 1000th posting to be 'profound' I must jump in here and say that I disagree with him though I have no 'facts' to back me up. I do not see "Good golly Miss Molly" on the same page as "Ordination"... It is my guess that "Little Richard Peniman" may have been employed by a conference and given credentials but never completed the time/training necessary before ordination. IMO he can toss out as many EGW books as he wants but it will not cancel out his reputation as being the 'father of R&R'...

Moderators Kevin H Posted September 19, 2009 Moderators Share Posted September 19, 2009 I think that today where we break the second commandament the most is when it comes to music. We tend to create a god we worship who's musical tasts are a perfect reflection of our own. We create god who's musical tastes are in our immage; and if there is a style of music we don't like, then we force god to see that music as sinful. I purposly used the small g because of this god being an idol that we make. Could it be possible that God has a wider taste in music than the god we want to worship? Mrs. White talks about a special resurection just before the second comming including those who died in faith in the 3 angels message. Sometimes I wonder if the purpose of the special resurection is so that when the Adventists hear the angels singing, that they are so shocked that God would like "That kind of music" that they have a heart atack and die and then after God has already given them the shock of His musical tastes that this blow to their sterotype of god is broken, God can finally raise them again in the general resurection to eternal life. nuff sed
Kevin.........Then, perhaps, according to your 'theory', it is possible that Little Richard will become the new director of the heavenly choir. Hmm....I wonder what the song that 'even the angels cannot sing' will sound like..... amopbabaloubopbalobamboom... or maybe "hey, hey , hey,,,I got saved today!" Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted September 19, 2009 Administrators Share Posted September 19, 2009 I get the impression from the description in Revelation that the volume and the bass will raise the roof and rattle the rafters! It is described as very loud and thunderous, like roaring waves and mega-thunder. Sounds louder than any rock concert we have heard. The sound of a rock concert cannot be heard miles away. Thunder can be... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."
