Ordinarily, I'd agree to that, Tom, but just within the last couple of years,the Democrat party has done as good of a job chasing out conservatives as the Republican Party. Anyone who won't vote the Liberal line does not have a seat at their table. Just ask Joe Leiberman. He voted like a conservative on the issues of national security and defense. Got run out of the party. He's otherwise a good socialist/liberal...Re-ran and got elected as an independent, much to Harry Reid's dismay. Harry then threatened to have Joe's seniority and committees assignments stripped. That's what the Democrat party "thinks" of "conservative" ideas and policies...and why many people conclude there are no conservatives in the Democrat party that are allowed to function as conservatives. My own House representative likes to number himself with the so-called "Blue Dogs". He's voting record is solidly Left, and pretty much stays in office by buying off the academics with earmark pork monies and projects destined for the 3 Universities in this district.
