Moderators Bravus Posted November 11, 2009 Author Moderators Posted November 11, 2009 Heh, someone's paraphrase: "“If my taxes are going to pay for someone’s healthcare and welfare, they better [dang] well be Iraqi and not American!”" Quote Truth is important
jasd Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 History 101. Non-political. A coupla things: our armed forces, vis-à-vis the MidEast wars, had neither peer nor precedence; and, given that – we were in a position to kill and break – as armed forces ought. The war should have been wrapped-up years ago – were it not for the fact that the fifth column* with their long knives emerged amongst us; together with the pseudo-intelligentsia. Our armed forces were effectively neutered, thenceforward functioning, primarily as a police force – nation building. A major portion of the 3-4 trillion dollar$ mentioned in the above-linked blog, per the Washington Post, were secondary, tertiary, etc -tier costs translating to continuing ‘costs to society’, ie, monies ‘wasted’ – resulting in fewer monie$ available for special schools with fewer worthy students receiving extraordinary education – resulting in a dollar loss to society... [/exaggerated example] We forget that Saddam vowed to fund any/all terrorist acts against America. That, however measured, is a declaration of war. Ipso facto, a reason for national expenditure that is lacking re other issues. We’ve had a recent statesman and an ideologue at 1600 Penn Ave apropos Iraq and A-stan.
