You mean your congregation does not read from the Bible, or have a Biblical solid moral(children's story), during the highlighted activities?

Thanks for bringing that up.

Here is another indicator at how worldly, unscriptural the church programming mentality is...

Constantly I hear these semi moral -non scriptural -children's story which have a single moral to the story..

I have done just a couple of children's story ..yet they were tied to the scripture...

These non bible kid's stories with..be nice to Aunt Suzy or Billie because Jesus loves us..shallow..cheapo junk shows how

TRICKLE DOWN IMMORALITY WORKS ...BY EXAMPLE..

YOU GET PASTORS WHO MINIMIZE BIBLE AND YOU GET LAY STORY TELLERS WHO MINIMIZE BIBLE..

I did not explain the extent to which reliance on psychology has on occasion
tended to be placed higher than reliance on God and His word
. I did not explain that, on the other hand, I have heard sermons that rightly address all these problems and how God's forgiveness and power promises hope to those with all kinds of struggles.
It is the over-reliance on psychology and the under-reliance on God's word that concerns me.
That was my point,

Even so, I've never met someone from a different religion that knew the Bible better than Seventh-day Adventists. Even my children know more about the Bible than do my in-laws--who've been faithfully attending Lutheran services for 60 years.

Thanks for the reply..

Glad to hear that..

I am coming from a different background..

a group which are bible thumping fundamentalists..

this is why I have the perspective that I do.

Remember too....I was there and through the Revelation seminar outreach ..came to SDA..

I am referring to the SDA weekly spiritual restaurant approach...verses the SDA outreach sales promotion complimentary buffet dinner.

I guess my complimentary dinner was more of a continuing dinner (what do they call those things where you go from house to house having one course at a time?). The evangelists who brought me in are still in my life and I've been studying with them ever since.

Another testimony for the incompetent homiletics when a drama is superior to all of the sermons.

And another testimony as to how one can get contaminated by the denominational approach of not inviting one to open the bible.

Hey, you rusted tin-man with NO heart....You are swinging in the air and hitting bystanders, drunken fool.

While I agree that many dramas of the past are silly little or obnoxious dry NT*whatever sermons, we are getting to where many are now touching hearts and the Holy Spirit can use it to move people.

When the resident chaplin says-

Quote:

Drama, music, and more can reach an individual with the message of Christ, and all can have a place in the Sabbath service. At times, it is appropriate to replace the sermon with such.

let me assure you, you have not seen a good sermon unless you have seen a drama that has been touched by the Holy Spirit. And there are many that are out there. Most dramas written by Jim Pappas and directed by a competant director can move some people to tears. There have been reports that his dramas have been invovled with spiritual gifts, ie done in one language and heard in another. Don't know the verasity of it, but trust me, wouldn't surprise me. These plays done right, are truely moving experiences.

And they are not just a rewrite of the bible. Some are parables[For One Alone], , other allegories[For Such a Time] and some are expansions of the bible [ie John 9].

So, Jimbob, don't be swinging and telling me, a former thesbian, and drama director, that drama are nothing more than milk toast substitute for the bible...Some, if taken to heart, can release a Hoover Dam of pentup emotion and release the saving grace of God to an individual. I have see it before....

As to that spell checker. It works ok but have you noticed that it doesnt correct the text on this board? I guess we have to copy and paste to get the correction here.
