karl
Ever ordered a pizza? Have you noticed that a pizza 1" bigger in radius is twice as expensive? Know why that is? It's because the area increases by the square of the radius. Now, that is only in one plane. Imagine an increase in volume spherically as you move out from the surface of the earth. Our atmosphere is immense!! Most of it is over uninhabited earth (think of the oceans and deserts and the poles.) You could put the entire population of the earth packed in like at the Vikings/Cowboys game in the state of Rhode Island with quite a bit of room to spare. Now give them all foggers filled with CO2 and let them make as much as humanly possible for as long as they want. This will have NO EFFECT on the atmosphere whatsoever. If there were an inversion layer it might affect the area over RI temporarily, but there would be NO EFFECT on the atmosphere of the earth as a whole. The total volume would be so much smaller than one millionth of one percent of the atmosphere it would be negligible.
