karl Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 The democratic congressman who was quoted on this clip saying "We can't save money - we have to SPEND our way out of this recession" is typical of the moral bankruptcy in the democratic party. This statement is patently false, yet it is obviously what the democrats are foisting upon us. This is the liberal mantra, "We're the richest nation on earth so lets throw money" at whatever the problem is imagined to be. Unfortunately, the very real problem this time is a LACK of money. They just can't understand it. A first grader can understand economics better than the current party in power. Margaret Thatcher said it best: "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money." Quote

My good friend Margaret and I are both speaking to the same IDEA, Laz, and that is government "spending money it doesn't have." It's bad. In many ways, it is a form of theft, or at least taxation without representation. When a government spends money it doesn't have, (the current administration is doing this "in spades,") it must inflate the currency. This is a tax on every person who is trying to save money. It discourages frugality and savings because it devalues the worth of every dime you save. As a result, the whole culture becomes a debt oriented society (like ours has become) which really undermines the financial stability of the country's citizens and thus the country. The administration should be encouraging savings and cutting back on spending. The government leads the way, and this administration is leading us into record debt, which will only encourage more of the same in the populace. Why save money if it will rapidly inflate? Spend it now before it becomes worth less. Quote

I don't know why you say that. Socialism is the same thing on this side of the pond, as it is on that side of the pond. Spending other peoples money. Quote
