Moderators Bravus Posted February 18, 2005 Moderators Share Posted February 18, 2005 Dudes and dudettes: please state your operating system (Windows/Mac/Linux/BeOS/stop me before I geek out) and browser (Opera, Firefox, Mozilla, Safari, Internet Explorer) when reporting your results - diagnosis will be far quicker and more accurate. Nicodema
Amelia, find out how Gail did it. She may have coded it in a way that works differently and will show up in more browsers. She did mine. Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
Amelia
Nico, could you do me a flavor and post the code number for your name color please. Im trying to figure out if it came from the standard font colors. If you look down below this post window where it says "Font Color", there is a question mark. Click on that and you get a "script prompt". This allows you to use colors by their coding. Some colors you can use just by printing the word, ie blue; [:"blue"] Blue. [/] Some you need a code for, ie ff0066. [:"ff0066"]I am now typing in ffoo99 using the script prompt. [/] Sometimes you need to put the # before the code.[:"#ff0066"] I am now typing in #ff0066.[/] Is there a difference between the two? I am running windows xp with IE 6. Nicodema
Amelia: mine is #B6316C. It's definitely not part of the old standard 216 palette or whatever. I can see your blue and #ff0066 in the proper colors in your post above. ff0099 did not show up (did you input ff0099 or ffoo99? the latter is not valid! I assume that was a typo.) I always use the pound sign (#) for hexidecimal code. E.g., [:"#bc0756"] #bc0756 [/] Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Nicodema
I'm convinced, then, that Gail did it differently from how Amelia is doing it. Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot

Nicodema
Not necessarily, Amelia. There's more than one way to code these things and maybe Gail just hit upon something that happens to work with Firefox as well as the others. You know how those cross-browser compatibility issues can be -- a real pain in the neck! Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. GreatLakesGramma
My OS is Windows XP, browser is Mozilla 1.7. Everyone's name is blue, except Nico's, and all other text in the sidebar is black on everyone's. I see colors in the posts, though.
