Dr. Shane
I was a little sad when John Ashcroft resiegned because he had down so well going after the porn makers. Well, seems Gonzales is doing the same. Moderators Bravus Posted February 17, 2005 Moderators Share Posted February 17, 2005 No worries, attack erotica and legalise torture. Oh, I have no brief for porn, don't get me wrong, but come on, this is such an insane distortion of priorities! This is the man who calls the Geneva Convention 'quaint'! But shut down a few nudie pictures and it's all good! Quote Truth is important
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted February 17, 2005 Moderators Share Posted February 17, 2005 Just as one of the Democratic Senators said to Gonzales at his confirmation hearing: "It's not that we question your skills, it's that we have to question your judgment!" The guy's priorities are skewed. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
Moderators Bravus Posted February 17, 2005 Moderators Share Posted February 17, 2005 Having read a little more, I realise that what Gonzales is going after is much grosser than 'a few nudie pics' - it's violent, horrible stuff. If he can find the time to both go after that stuff and undo some of the damage he's done on torture, more power to him. It's still about priorities though. Dr. Shane
I suspect it is coming from the top. I first thought that going after the porn industry was one of John Ashcroft's pet projects. However now I am thinking it may be one of Bush's pet peeves since it is the first order of business for Gonzales. During the Clinton years two things happened to cause a boom in the porn industry. 1. Janet Reno did not enforce existing anti-porn laws. 2. The internet came of age. The porn industry poured thousands of dollars into getting Kerry elected because Ashcrost was such a setback for them. I am just glad that Gonzales is ready and willing to carry the tourch.
