Stan Posted March 15, 2010 Share Posted March 15, 2010 Raymond Ernest Wegh 1924-2010 A life dedicated to others. Born in Romania, Ray moved with his family to Canada in 1928. He attended Canadian Union College canvassing during the summers as far north as Inuvik above the Arctic Circle. He taught school in Hazelton BC and Dawson Creek BC before moving to the United States to Attend Andrews University. He taught in Michigan and Pennsylvania before moving to the southwest. He continued teaching in Farmington NM, LaVida Mission NM, Mesa AZ and Sierra Vista AZ. He never lost his love for the literature work and returned to canvassing in the Nevada Utah Conference. In retirement he spent his time in volunteer service. He loved working construction with Maranatha, and Mission Church builders. He also spent time at Holbrook Mission school, Weimar, Calexico and Valley Grande Academy volunteering with maintenance projects. Where ever he was he handed out literature in his free time. He enjoyed staying with friends and playing a good game of Scrabble. On March 10, 2010, his 86th birthday, he suffered a significant stroke and passed away on Sabbath March 13 in the arms of his children. “Sing them over again to me, Wonderful words of Life…” He is survived by two children, Sylvia (Wegh) Barbosa, and Dan Wegh, five grandchildren and his sister Frieda Hauser. The family is requesting that any gifts to his memory be made to Holbrook Mission school.
