Jerry D Thomas
Friends, Many of you joined me for a Friday night discussion not long ago about Messiah . I want to share my new book with you--it's called Conversations with Jesus . It grew out of my study of The Desire of Ages and explores of the stories where Jesus speaks with individuals like you and I. Some of our favorite verses from the story of Jesus are not sermon soundbites or exerpts from a lecture--they are part of a conversation Jesus had with someone is who hurting, or angry, or in need. Pacific Press has created a video promo of the book that you can find at Adventist Book Center online and a sample chapter is online there also. I'd be interested in your reaction to what you see, and to the book's concept. Jerry D Thomas
Administrators Gail Posted February 18, 2005 Administrators Share Posted February 18, 2005 Well, I'm looking at one of the art-card advertising thingys that the press sent us, and I admit that my interest is piqued! It's what you wish you could say, and what you long to hear. Good idea, Jerry! I'll be at the marketing meetings next week and hopefully they will give me a free copy to read on the long drive home Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. Administrators Gail Posted February 25, 2005 Administrators Share Posted February 25, 2005 A couple days ago I had opportunity to listen to Jerry speak about the book and his experience which led to and resulted from this writing. I think that Conversations with Jesus will be one of our big sellers of the year Thanks for your time, Jerry, and I wish you much success with this project Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. Jerry D Thomas
It was nice to meet you, Gail, and thanks for your kind words. I hope the book can be a blessing. I'm looking forward to joining you all at BC camp meeting. Just to give everyone a feel for the book, what do these two of Jesus' great pronouncements have in common? "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life" and "I am the Resurrection and the Life" Jerry D Thomas
Jerry D Thomas
What do these two of Jesus' great pronouncements have in common? "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life" and "I am the Resurrection and the Life." Neither are from a sermon or lecture. Both are part of a personal conversation Jesus was having. Jesus is answering hurting, confused individuals with these words of assurance, which is why I think they resonate so strongly to us today. Guest
Jerry, Thanks for following up on your question... I did read it..and attempted analyzing it.. I was using the logical partial match approach.. glad you brought out the conversation theme to enlarge the context.. I see they are responses to Thomas and Martha
