bonnie
Obama’s Approval Rating Drops to Record Low Friday, 02 Apr 2010 05:53 PM Newsmax By: Dan Weil This healthcare thing apparently isn’t working out too well politically for President Barack Obama. His approval rating fell to a record low of 44 percent in the latest CBS News Poll. That compares to 49 percent in late March, just before the healthcare reform bill became law. His approval rating was 50 percent in January and 68 percent last April. Obama does even worse on healthcare. Only 34 percent of respondents approve of his healthcare policy, down from 41 percent in late March, 40 percent in January and 49 percent in July. Americans aren’t exactly doing somersaults over Obama’s economic policy either. Only 42 percent of poll respondents approve of Obama’s handling of the economy, down from 45 percent before the healthcare passage, though up slightly from 41 percent in January. Still, it’s a plunge from 61 percent last April. Only 16 percent see the economy in good condition. That’s down from 22 percent in December, though it’s up from 5 percent in February 2009. Citizens are undoubtedly worried about the job market, with unemployment registering 9.7 percent for March. Thirty-five percent of respondents say they are “very concerned” someone in their household will lose a job, up from 31 percent in February, though down from 44 percent a year ago. Democrats aren’t faring too well in other recent polls either. More Americans think Republicans can handle the economy better than Democrats for the first time since President Obama took office in January, according to a new CNN/Opinion Research poll. Republicans beat out Democrats in the poll by 48 to 45 percent. That’s quite a shift from August, when 52 percent of respondents said Democratic economic policies are superior, compared to 39 percent for Republicans. Dr. Shane
Does anyone think Obama's ratings are dropping faster than normal because he is black? I mean, if he was white, does anyone think he would be doing better in the polls? Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... karl
Does anyone think Obama's ratings are dropping faster than normal because he is black? I mean, if he was white, does anyone think he would be doing better in the polls? I think he and Michelle attach more significance to their color than just about anyone else in the country. It's a non-issue.
Dr. Shane
Well, according to Republican National Committee chair, Micheal Steele, President Obama does come under more criticism because he is black. Of course Micheal Steele is black too so he may have an inside perspective that most white folks just don't see. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Bring us the AP report which documents racism against Obama. The only thing I see is that people don't like his ham-fisted drive to take over their lives. Maybe you're on to something with the racism thing but what would be useful here would be some actual evidence.

karl
Andrew Breitbart over the weekend on exactly how we know the left is faking its claim that Tea Party ralliers were racists. This, remember, stems from Democrats’ claims that they were attacked with racial slurs from protesters as they marched to the Capitol to saddle us with Obamacare. Writes Breitbart: “Linking the health-care bill, which has nothing to do with black and white, to the divisive civil-rights period, while simultaneously accusing its opponents of being racist, is an evil strategy — literally.” “The Democratic Party is trying to signal to the black community and to progressive media types that the way to push back against the Tea Party and Republicans is to use the reliable race card by provoking a racial incident. The ensuing rhetoric about the bill and about the nature of the Tea Party is based upon repeated talking points. Propaganda. . . . It was a set-up. “I smelled a rat so I offered at first $10k five days after the highly publicized alleged incidents happened. How could we be five full news cycles into this major controversy and not have any evidence? In fact, the existing footage showed the Congressional Black Caucus walking and never once moving their heads toward any ‘racist outbursts.’ Is it conceivable that all of them stoically walked by the N-word as it was hurled 15 times — as they were holding up cameras to convey they were suspicious of the crowd to begin with? “We are now two weeks since the bill was signed and the $10k reward jumped to $20k in a day after it was mentioned on both Hannity and O’Reilly. At the Searchlight Tea Party event last weekend I upped the ante to $100k. So where’s the evidence? Ken Vogel of Politico covered this story and said calls to Rep. John Lewis — one of the originator’s of the N-word storyline – were never returned.” -------------- The most important thing to remember here is that racism is irrelevant to the powergrab in DC. The whole discussion is obfuscation by the powergrabbers.

karl
I'm not saying ALL tea folks are racists. Some are obviously. Are you saying the two pictures are fake? You made the assertion that the tea party movement was racist. I was looking for evidence of it. Evidence would be a sea of overtly racist signs, or the expressed goal of accomplishing something racist. If the tea party movement were lobbying for the reinstatement of slavery, that would be significant. Are they, in fact, lobbying for something racist? What are their goals? Their goals are smaller, less intrusive government. How is that racist? This is a question that needs answering. How does wanting smaller government get transmogrified into racism by the liberal press? The fact that the democratic party platform is virtually indistinguishable from the platform of the Communist Party USA is telling evidence linking the GOALS of the two organizations. This is significant. The fact that a couple of black democrats in east LA want to lynch George Bush is pretty much irrelevant to what the democratic party stands for. Moderators lazarus Posted April 6, 2010 Moderators Share Posted April 6, 2010 You made the assertion that the tea party movement was racist. I did, where? I said "How could you miss the racism against Obama at tea party rallies?" That's really not the same thing. There are racist elements in the tea party movement. That cannot be denied.
