LEXINGTON: Dr. Roscoe William Webster passed away Friday, August 6th, 2010 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio.

He was born in Fairbanks, Alaska on April 19th, 1923.

Dr. Webster graduated from The Emory University Dental School in Atlanta, GA, and served his internship at Cleveland Hospital in Oral Surgery. Dr. Webster served in the Navy and the U. S. Air Force, and was a dentist at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, TX during the Korean conflict.

Dr. Webster practiced dentistry for 60 years at the family practice located at 61 N. Mulberry St. in downtown Mansfield. He enjoyed his occupation to the extent that he would often refer to it as his hobby. He passed his love of dentistry on to his children and grandchildren. The family now includes six Dentists, seven Dental Hygienists, and two current Dental Students. Daughter Dr. Jill Kerbs took over her father's practice once he retired.

Dr. Webster was very active in the community, serving on several local boards. He was the President of the Mansfield Dental Society, President of the National Association of Seventh-Day Adventist Dentists, and President of The Optimist Club. Dr. Webster led several Adventist mission trips to underprivileged areas including Haiti, Mexico and Turks & Cacaos. In Haiti, the natives would even show up at his hotel each morning at sunrise waiting to sell him their handmade crafts… Roscoe would return home from his mission trips with more than he could carry.

Dr. Roscoe Webster was instrumental in the early construction and development of the East Main Street area of Lexington, including Lex Lanes, Lakewood Racquet Club and the Lexwood Plaza Shopping Centers.

As an avid sportsman, Dr. Webster played as hard as he worked. Tennis, golf, sailing, skiing, cycling, bowling and boating were a large part of who he was.

Survived by his wife, Marian; three sons and three daughters, Steve and Mary Webster, Dr. Rodney and Susan Staker, Drs. Jim and Jill Kerbs, Dr. John and Sue Webster, Dr. Kenneth and Jodie McGill, Dr. Roscoe Webster, Jr. and wife, Deborah; a sister, Betty, and her husband, Roger Ruetenik. Dr. Webster, referred to by his family as 'Rock', was very active in sharing time with his children, 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and spent his summers on Lake Erie in Huron, OH.

A 'Celebration of Life' ceremony will be held Thursday, August 12th at 6 p.m. at the Mansfield Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1040 West Cook Road.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Stein Hospice of Sandusky, or to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and its Children's summer camp fund.
