I am surprised the US is rated as high as it is after the financial crisis we have had exposing so many ties between Wall Street and Washington.

Every human government is relatively corrupt. The difference is that some governments are corrupt by design and people are rewarded on a regular basis for their corruption. For them corruption is business as usual. In other countries, corrupt people are regularly punished, and often very severely. In our country there is always legal redress against corruption, whereas in some other countries, it is impossible to obtain redress against corrupt police or the government.

But I don't think it is correct historically to say that Americans believe their government has no corruption. Anyone who watches the news or reads the newspapers will know this can't be true. Corruption is a part of human nature and therefore laws must be made and enforced diligently to keep it from overwhelming the society.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
