Stan Posted June 18, 2011 Share Posted June 18, 2011 George A. Paulman of Port Orchard Jan. 7, 1919 to June 12, 2011 Veteran George A. Paulman, 92, died at his home in Port Orchard, WA, on June 12, 2011. He was born Jan. 7, 1919, in Hershey, NE, to William and Hazel (Zauler) Paulman. He married Inez Dikeman on July 26, 1939, in Julesburg, CO, and she preceded him in death in 2010. George was a rancher and farmer for 25 years in Nebraska and Washington, retiring in 1961. He and his wife traveled the U.S. from 1969 to 1971. He worked for Hamilton Stores in the 70's and 80's in Yellowstone Park, Death Valley and Big Ben, TX. He also worked for Boeing as a Radar and Instrument Foreman on B-17s & B-29s on the flight test crew during World War II. George was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Boeing Machinist Union, and Tacoma Local Teamster 313. He played football for Boeing from 1942-1945. He enjoyed traveling, Indian history, flowers, family and winters in Yuma, AZ, with his wife, working with the Navajo Indians. Surviving are sons George (Sharlene) of Steilacoom, WA and William of Silver Springs, NV; daughter Claudia (James) Arends of Port Orchard; brother William (Marilyn) of Wolbach, NE; sister Betty (Frank) Miller of Elk City, OK; grandchildren Jeffrey and Sean Cole, Tony and Josh Paulman, Katrina Theodore, Heidi Steward and Gretchan Krall; and 18 great-grandchildren. Memorial service at 4:30 p.m. on June 21st at Seventh-day Adventist Church on Bethel Road in Port Orchard. Online memorial at www.rill.com.
