Some thoughts on Sorrow and Sighing

Woody

Recommended Posts

I am weary with my sighing;

Every night I make my bed swim,

I dissolve my couch with my tears.

PS 6:6

FOr I am ready to fall,

ANd my sorrow is continually before me.

FOr I confess my iniquity;

I am full of anxiety because of my sin

Do not forsake me, O Lord;

O my God, do not be far from me!

PS 38:17-18,21

Lord all my desire is before Thee;

And my sighing is not hidden from Thee.

Ps. 38:9

May we be one so that the world may be won.

The Bible was written by real people with real emotions, eh?

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Thou hast loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness."

I do think I'm on a roll.

I waited patiently for the Lord;

ANd He inclined to me, and heard my cry.

He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay;

ANd He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.

And He put a new song in my mouth,

a song of praise to our GOd.

Ps 40:1-3

May we be one so that the world may be won.

What other way can we know the truth of those Scriptures without having gone through the experience?

Praise God that we CAN praise God through the dark valleys!! Jesus is our Friend and safety and help in trouble.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Yes Gail. Very true. Two super good books that I've read on the topic are : You Gotta Keep Dancin' by Tim Hansel

and "The Dark Night - A Gift From God" By Daniel Schrock

You Gotta Keep Dancing? When I read that I get a mental image of someone dancing while someone else is shooting bullets at his feet MAKING him dance!

Am I far off? :)

An accurate image. Not specificly in the book but the general idea. Gail - you being a book lover - you seriously should look into Tim's books. They are so good and I especially think that he writes in your style. You would like him. He writes from Seattle.

Another one of Tim's books is called "Holy Sweat". I've read it two or three times and never get tired of it.

The highlighted part reminds me of an Eastwood movie "Pale Rider"

By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}

Excellent movie, by the way.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
