But at the same time, the Board cannot possibly reconfigure itself to meet the taste of everyone, since everyone's tastes are so different. I agree it should be open to discussion, but you ought to remember that the shape it currently has is the fruit of many many years of such open discussion. If there were many dissatisfied people, it would make sense to reconsider the operation of the board. If there's one, it makes sense for that person to take a look in the mirror... and to consider whether this is the place to be. I'm not *telling* you to leave, I'm simply suggesting that there's no reason why you have to put up with something you consider sub-optimal: the web is large, there will be something more to your tastes elsewhere. I'm afraid that - not through any clique, but through the desire of the great majority of the members - this place won't be changing to suit you.

I disagree with your instant jump to the solution being one of "seperation".

We should discuss and challenge the status quo.

But many here seem to get very itchy when someone does that.

That is not a healthy sign.

Also in your argument is the idea that "we have arrived", because you have spent a long time developing the current status quo, which again is dangerous.

If those that run the forum are not open to discussion about how they run things, then this board will become nothing more than a self serving platform for a small minority clique.

Then it will have no relevance to the mission God has given Adventists.

:like: Again twilight its not that I disagree with what your asking, and it seems neither do the moderators.

But you are still defending the status quo in the same manner you did as a moderator and one who was involved in the running of this forum.

Correct?

Which means you very likely reflect the opinions of the moderators in a general sense.

The moderators are a very, very mixed bunch of people; there's no orthodoxy.

But sure, I'll defend my friends when they're under attack. It's part of what friends do.

Could this place be better? Probably. If we've arrived anywhere it's at a complex, messy compromise, not pristine perfection.

But my solutions for improving the place would in many ways be opposite to yours, and that's exactly the issue: it's necessary to find a working compromise.

And, fwiw, I think in general we've done so: it's messy, and no-one is 100% happy, but that's an impossible goal.

From reading this thread, it seems to me (and correct me if I'm wrong) that what you want is more moderators who are more like you. From my perspective, there are already some... and some who are quite different. The moderators are a complex mix, and reflect the members well.

If you really want a list of moderators, there's nothing to stop you compiling one for yourself. You could even post it here if you wanted to. Each forum shows its moderator. A few of those might be out-dated because a few moderators have quit recently, but in general it's accurate.

I already explained any 'defensiveness' you might be sensing on my part: even used the word: I'll defend my friends.

I think your perception is incorrect, except insofar as it's true to say that most mods would be somewhere to the left of you. But it's not the mods who moved...

I have already guaged the boards moderators by the method Stan offered.

And to be middle of the road, you have to first identify the liberals and the conservatives.

Until you understand what they argue for, you cannot find the middle.

Liberalism on one hand, legalism on the other.

In the middle of that is the narrow path, which involves a total dependence on Christ, with an expectation of total victory over sin.

So your assertion for instance that I am a conservative is very very far from the truth.

But that will not stop you from thinking that, because you will naturally conclude that anyone to the right of you is ultra conservative. Don't you agree?

I have to say, having been a moderator and admin on the official Iron Maiden and Rob Halford boards - the moderators here do one of the best jobs I have ever seen. They are more fair than at most boards.

Mark, one could hope for transparency and disclosure, or that the forum's motto be upheld. But online behaviour lacks the accountability of even simple dialogue in the flesh.

All is not lost. The signs of the times are closing upon us. We must lift up our heads for our redemption draweth nigh.

Indeed my friend.

There are some books that I will be looking at in heaven, with much sadness I expect.

As long as I keep laying hold of the grace supplied to me through the merits of Christ of course.

I have read all the posts in this forum topic; and my only question is: "What is this topic about?"

Disappionted John317 is no longer a moderator of the theology forum.

One of the most balanced posters on this board and in my opinion, the best moderator on here.

AMEN

The theology Forum definitely took a wrong turn upon his egress.

But, rejoice always Brethren,
