Principal arrested for alleged molestation in Whittier

WHITTIER - A former principal of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church school in Whittier was arrested for alleged lewd acts on a girl in January 2008, police said Wednesday.

Daniel Edward Weston, 47, of Covina was arrested Tuesday at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church school in West Covina where he is currently the principal, according to Whittier police spokesman Officer Bradley White.

He said the alleged incident happened in 2008 to a student at the Whittier school where Weston was principal for seven years.

Weston was being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles in lieu of $100,000 bail. He will be arraigned Thursday at Whittier Superior Court, according to sheriff's booking records.

No one answered the phone at the West Covina church on Wednesday night.

Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call the Whittier Police Department at 562-567-9200.

A principal arrested on suspicion of a lewd act with a child will not faces charges, according to the district attorney's office.

Daniel Weston, 47, was arrested in connection with the 2008 case involving a student at the Seventh-Day Adventist Elementary School in Whittier. Weston, now principal at the Seventh Day Adventist Church School in West Covina, was arrested Wednesday by Whittier police and held on $100,000 bond.

Authorities citied insufficient evidence to file charges in the case.

Weston was principal at the Whittier school for seven years.

"We're grateful that we're moving along in the process," said school director Bob Dennis. "Our thoughts are with Mr. Weston and the alleged victim."

GOOD NEWS all charges dropped.

This may haunt him for years.

I'm sure it will haunt the alleged victim as well. To finally have the courage to come forward, and then not have enough physical evidence to do anything would be heartbreaking.

That's assuming that the victim was indeed a victim.
