Stan
I was an ABC (Book and Bible House) manager for about 20 years. When it came to subjects like Women's Ordination would carry published books from both 'sides'. Inevitably those who had a strong position on one side, would be upset because I was providing erroneous material to lead people astray if they purchased and read the 'other' material. Folks who took either position reacted somewhat similar. That is somewhat similar to what happens here at times. Woody
A high percentage of the time - people buy the books that support their view. They are not buying to learn what the other side believes. So, you as a book seller - need to have books that cover all the beliefs so you can have good book sales. For full disclosure - I am a book seller. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. M. T. Cross
I guess depending on how much people want to learn and expand will depend on how open minded they should be. Being open minded is misunderstood a lot I think. For insance often if you disagree with a view, don't want to try a new dish, don't want to do something you have not done before, some people will claim you are closed minded. Not true. Being open minded means respecting peoples view, respecting that they like that dish, respecting that they like to jump off of a bridge tied to a bungie cord LOL. That is the first step of being open minded. I have run into things where people will insult my view, tell me I am wrong etc. when they have no clue what so ever about the view. They just know it is not what they think. That is closed minded. In the end, being open minded can further your walk in life. At the very least you will be able to carry on a better conversation with those that disagree with you, and at the very best you will learn some fascinating things and have some wonderful experiences. Members phkrause
I certainly agree Stan. Problem is both sides always believe that they are correct and show evidence, or at least they think they have for there position.
