Dr. Shane
I have long advocated Family Life classes instead of sex education. I believe sex education should be part of science class (anatomy & biology) and Family Life should teach teenagers how to have a successful marriage and be good parents. If sex ed were merely the birds and the bees, anatomy and a few cautionary notes about sexually transmitted diseases, even most traditionally minded parents would not object. But quite often the sex educators are much more ambitious. <hr /></blockquote><font class="post"> Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... there buster
Why do you even bother, Shane? This ship lists to port so badly, most of the crew can no longer tell. Moderators Bravus Posted May 12, 2005 Moderators Share Posted May 12, 2005 Ah quit yer whining, Ed. If you don't like it, take your supercilious attitude and go home. Some of us are trying to keep it civil, but you're just spitting on the floor. Come back when you can play nicely, or don't come back at all. I've had enough. Edit: Astonishingly, people are allowed to have opinions different from yours around here. /ignore Quote Truth is important
K
My daughter is doing a project next year for her PA program about sex education in schools. I'll let you know the results. It will be interesting to say the least. K Quote Proverbs 15:15 He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

Dr. Shane
Yes I know what a Physician's Assistant is. I belive most (if not all) are RNs with a master degree. The trend in sex education over the past 25 years has been disturbing as it starts out with the conclusion that we can't stop teenagers from having sex. When in fact, many teenagers will wait when they understand the consequences of having sex are not just pregnancy and STDs. Most sex ed programs do not even look at the emotional consequences that often result in premature marriage or heart ache. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... K
Well you're close, but a Pa doesn't have a nursing degree. It is a separate program that has some classes like nurses take, but it is its own degree. Union College has a PA program. Nurses with a Masters are called NP (nurse practicioner). They are the equivalent are almost the same except different states have different rules as to what PAs and NPs can do. NPs for instance have to have an MD signature on narcotic prescriptions. At our hosptial NPs see patients like PAs, but I haven't seen an NP in the OR like the PAs. K Quote Proverbs 15:15 He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
