Stan Posted September 10, 2012 Share Posted September 10, 2012 LIFESTORY: Reinder "Rhine" Kars, age 89, of Holland, passed away, Friday, September 7, 2012 at Hospice House of Holland. Rhine was born in Holland and was a lifelong resident. He retired from General Motors in 1987 after 42 years of employment. Rhine was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Rhine served in the European Theater, with United States Army, during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and several other medals. Surviving is his wife, Eleanor of 65 years; children, Bev and Art Grimes of Zeeland, Terry Kars of Hamilton, Kim and Bruce Bos of Martin; grandchildren, Dale and Julie Grimes, Tonya Hubbell, and Courtney Grimes; 7 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ada Rooks, Ella Bronson, Gerrit Kars, and David Kars all of Holland; in-laws, Claribel Dorgelo of Holland and Earl and Dorothy Dunnewin of Washington; nephews, nieces, and cousins. Funeral services with military honors will be 11 am Tuesday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 11279 Ottogan St. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday at the Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.
