GreatLakesGramma
I have an appointment with a hand surgeon this coming Tuesday. I'm having a problem with my right thunb. The tendon sheath is binding the tendon, and it has gotten to the point where most of the time I can't bend my thumb at all. It's painful to grip a doorknob, my hand weights, or a jar, to open it, and it's very difficult and painful to write. I was told by the orthopedist who referred me that the surgeon would first try an injection of a tiny amount of cortisone, and if that didn't take care of the problem, surgery would be necessary. I ask for prayer that the injection will take care of it. If I needed surgery, it would be simple, in the doctor's office, but I'm chemically sensitive, and concerned about potential reactions to the anesthesia. Nevertheless, I cannot continue to tolerate this condition and allow it to progress. It's too crippling. So if I must have surgery, I must. Dr. Shane
I will pray for the best. The surgery will probbally require therapy afterwards. I jammed my finger a number of years ago and have never regained full range of motion with it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> but I can still grip good and don't want to pay for the surgey or do the therape to fix it. GreatLakesGramma
I got the injection, and a splint on my thumb. The good news is that the doctor said that the injection will take care of the problem 50% of the time. So I have a 50% chance of not needing surgery. I'm hoping and praying that I'll be among the 50% who don't. Thank you for your prayers, and I would appreciate any continue prayers. It will be a few weeks before I'll know the results.
