NormF
I've been noticing membership stands at an even 1700 now. Good looking number, but I'm wondering how many of them are active posters, or if nothing else, active lurkers? Doesn't seem like I see anywhere near that many names on posts. Am I living in a little closed ghetto and missing the rest of the world? The Anonymouses that Neil's been trying to coax onboard (see "Dear Anonymous") are at least sure active lurkers. Anybody else ... thoughts? (just wondering) Regards, Norm Quote Debile fundamentum, fallit opus. - "Where there is a weak foundation, the work falls." Good looking number, but I'm wondering how many of them are active posters, or if nothing else, active lurkers? I'd be generous and say that around 10% of those are prolly repeat subscribers who came on with a different name, and/or different email address. [Didn't you do that Norm ? I know I did.] And there are prolly a couple of people who the Administration allows to be multi-subscribe, ie one old aged church going lady moderator who shall remain nameless [aka 1oacglmwsrn] ... And there might be a few others that, for reasons unknown to us, might be lurking members who refuse to participate, like pastors And , of course, there are conference workers who can not participate for fear of public retrobutions, ie Adventist teachers.... but who like to know what others are thinking... So, for those of us who are here, we are fulfilling a good work, working out practical solutions in a hard sinful world. So, all of us, Liberal & Conservative people, insisting that our views are the correct ones backed by EGW and the Bible are providing a service to the lurkers who want to view what others are thinking......Still, I think they should participate or at least PM someone who can give an airing of thier view ... Participate you lousey looking lovely lurkers [from now on refered to as the LlLL's aka 4xLs] !!!! Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Public retribution? For participating in a forum? Whatever happened to free speech? I don't think it's a case of 'free speech', but rather a case of following the commandment of jesus that says something to the effect that if you have ought with your brother, talk with him. If he doesn't listen, bring a fellow church member and together talk with him. Of course, I am paraphrasing, but that's the jist of the passage. It forces a person to be less gossipy, to take personal responsibility for his actions and to confront a person. Recently, I became aware of a situation where a teacher disciplined a parent's boy for dilberately loosing a ball by throwing it over the schoolyard just to have his way. The teacher, having been studying in the bible about restoration, required 2 balls for the one he lost, AND both parents to come into the school to talk about the matter. One of the parents refused to come in, but began talking about the teacher to other parents. Now this parent had a history of not confronting the the teachers and getting other parents upset over teachers and getting the teachers fired or at least, not rehired during that part of the rehiring year. Anyways, this discipling teacher, insisted that this parent come in, and if so, would reduce the punishment to just the replacement of the one ball. Did you know this parent did everything she could to avoid this situation? This teacher left messages to call her, attempted to talk to her during school programs, talked to her spouse and pleaded to come in to talk...This parent would not do it. Finally the teacher contacted this parents pastor, and he interceeded and encouraged a talk...But he had to really push the proper buttons.... It took nearly 3 months to get this situation rectified...But the parent finally came in. And the teacher and the parent finally got things cleared up.... Some adventists can be sooooooooooooooooooooo.....um yeah... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.
