Sojourner Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Hello everyone, I wanted to ask people to share their testimony about when it was that they began to feel a part of the Seventh Day Adventist Church as a member? I guess many were born into the SDA, but no doubt there are others that were born again into the SDA at a later age in life or who joined the SDA having been a part of another Christian fellowship. I am wondering at what point you really began to feel a part of the church? Quote
Members phkrause Posted April 18, 2013 Members Posted April 18, 2013 Wasn't born a member, but when my Mom started taking us to church I was really young so really can't say if I felt like a part than. I do remember when we started going to the Jewish Adventist Temple in the Bronx, that's when I started feeling a part of the SDA Church and have ever since. Even though some have told me I was going to hell! Quote phkrause Read Isaiah 10:1-13

I didn't really feel like a member until I understood in totality that 'call' that the SDA church is instructed to do- to spread the 3 angels message. Quote

Administrators Gail Posted April 18, 2013 Administrators Posted April 18, 2013 I was not born into the church. I was led of the Spirit here from a destructive, secular atmosphere and mindset. So because I felt God's leading, I have always felt a part of it since I connected. I have had no problem with the people, either. My acceptance doesn't come from the people, although if I had to continually put up with a negative experience I may look for a more agreeable group to worship and pray and study with. But that has not happened yet. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted April 18, 2013 Members Posted April 18, 2013 Not born into the church, but brought up in it...hated it.. Eventually began to feel like a part of the [Christian] church due to some REALLY nice folks (some SDA, some Baptist] who accepted me when I was a pagan and beginning to be interested in the Christian God again. To tell the truth, I'm not yet feeling like an *accepted* member of the SDA church. Quote Pam      Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Woody Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Personally - I prefer to 'be' rather than 'feel'. The 'feeling' part of it is very unreliable. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â

ClubV12 Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Good point Woody, very true. However, it is wonderful when the Father sends a measure of peace and joy that overwhelms the heart. Sometimes I just break out in praise or a song His love is so refreshing. Ah hemmm,,, must,, control,, myself. I had a very difficult time a couple of years ago and it looked like I would be leaving the Church, not entirely of my own free will. After some serious soul searching.... I determined that I would support this Church, not speak evil of it, mail in my tithe and offerings and honor it in all the ways I could. No matter what happened. THAT, for me, is when I fully realized, these were my people, this was my God, I would gather what scraps from their table as I could, quietly and without causing a scene. Quote

Ted Oplinger Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I felt a part of the SDA Church on the day I was baptized - when many within the congregation welcomed me with true love, and weren't just celebrating the addition of another member to the roll. Blessings, Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J.
