Ted Oplinger Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 For which he never applied for a license to use... Well, at least he is charged for something. I tend to think he could be charged with about a dozen other crimes. Let's hope the Miranda thing isn't used to get him off on a technicality... Blessings, Quote "As iron sharpens iron, so also does one man sharpen another" - Proverbs 27:17 "The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings "Courage is being scared to death - and saddling up anyway" - John Wayne "The person who pays an ounce of principle for a pound of popularity gets badly cheated" - Ronald Reagan

Moderators Bravus Posted April 22, 2013 Moderators Posted April 22, 2013 A friend pointed out that Miranda is actually more for the benefit of the prosecutor than the accused, since it makes statements made between arrest and arraignment admissible in court. Voiding Miranda actually makes prosecution *harder*, not easier. It sounds as though from a practical perspective in this case it has been moot because he has said nothing, but it's still a terrible precedent to set, with no good reason behind it. joeb Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 How the definition of "weapons of mass destruction" has changed. It used to refer to nuclear bombs and chemical and/or biological weapons that could literally destroy great masses of people. You know, 10's or 100's of thousands of people from one usage of the weapon. Now the term has been trivialized. Now, don't go thinking I'm saying that the injuries that people sustained in the Boston attack are trivial. They aren't. But when you compare 3 people killed and fewer than 200 injured to 10's or 100's of thousands, and maybe millions, it's trivial in size. Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted April 25, 2013 Moderators Posted April 25, 2013 Miranda: As a citizen of the UL. S., I beleive that he should be entitled to Miranda. If they do not warn him, then there will be problems with using any information that he provides to convict him. Quote Gregory
