Woody
I am curious as to if any of you have won anything in your lifetime. Please list the great fortunes that you have been privileged to win. I will start off by saying that I've never won anything worth more than a dollar. My greatest win was a can of peaches. Can you top that? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Moderators LynnDel Posted January 7, 2012 Moderators Share Posted January 7, 2012 I won a $29.95 5 1/4" floppy disk file back in the 80s when I went to a new computer store opening. I won a T-shirt in a toss-the-nerf-ball-into-the-basket contest at the school where I taught. I won a free book from an author friend through a FB contest. I won a free T-shirt from Club Adventist about a decade ago when the contest was to advertise CA on your website. I still have the shirt. I've won other "free" things that I never redeemed -- such as a week's stay for two in a resort in the mountains of Virginia (not a buy-a-time-share sales pitch), but the person I was going to go with was no longer available to join me. No great riches. LD Quote LD

Administrators Naomi Posted January 7, 2012 Administrators Share Posted January 7, 2012 Nope, I defer to your amazing luck; you are one can of peaches ahead of me! Members phkrause
Lets see, back in '67 when I was stationed in Germany, a bunch of us took a trip to Austria, I believe it was Innsbruck. They had a casino there, so I had a quarter on me, I was watching these people just throwing away money on this one slot machine. After nearly an hour or two, and no winnings from that slot machine, I decided to put my last and only quarter into it. I figured that it had to be ready to give back soon coins. It did, and I won the jackpot. I of course poured all the money back into it, and lost it all. That was the first and last time I wasted my time in a casino. Its a good thing I never got hooked on playing the slot machines. Quote phkrause Obstinacy is a barrier to all improvement. - ChL
Liz
Let's see, in Girl Scouts I won a stuffed Koala bear from cookie sales, I also won $100 dollars from a writing contest. In highschool I won a scholarship for college, I can't remember how much but I think it covered books for one year. About ten years ago, at the Library I guessed the number of candies in the jar correctly, and won several posters, stickers and books. That one was actually pretty neat. I think that's it, I normally don't enter contests though. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul?
