there buster
I'm grateful for low gas prices, but I'm curious at the word "spoiled" used by several here. Now, if gas prices were subsidized by government and kept artificially low, it would make some sense to me. But quite the opposite is the case. Depending upon the locality, local, state, and federal taxes increase the price anywhere from 45 cents to nearly a dollar a gallon. I'm not certain how that constitutes being spoiled. Now, if we're really just saying we're fortunate to live in an economy which is so efficient, and a place where taxes are lower than elsewhere, I can understand it. Maybe "spoiled" is just shorthand for "blessed." K
Today on my way home from work, 2.49 per gallon regular unleaded in Central TX. No one in the area is that low so the cars were starting to pass it, but turned around and started lining up. I am so thankful for that little bit of reprieve. I get about 20 mpg in a Ford Explorer. I really am careful with my trips, and plan to do stuff either on my way into work or on my way home from work. K Quote Proverbs 15:15 He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast. CyberGuy
Residents of Keys Evacuate for Rita By MICHELLE SPITZER KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - Residents boarded up windows Monday and evacuated the low-lying Florida Keys as Tropical Storm Rita gathered strength in the Bahamas, threatening to grow into a hurricane with a potential 8-foot storm surge. In New Orleans, the mayor suspended his plan to start bringing residents back to the city after forecasters warned Rita could charge through the Gulf of Mexico and possibly reach his city's already weakened levees. Oil prices surged on the possibility that oil and gas production would be interrupted once again. =================================== To early to tell which direction this storm will take but a second hit on New Orleans will not help gas prices one bit. Administrators Naomi Posted September 22, 2005 Administrators Share Posted September 22, 2005 Fortunately they decreased in TX for a while, however I suspect that by the weekend we'll think the over $3.00/gal we had two or three weeks ago will look like a bargin <img src="/ubbtreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Neighbor just called and said I should fill up as soon as I arrive at home ... price has increased .40/gal this am. From what I understand the prediction for coastal regions is to top $4/gal Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
CyberGuy
The area of Texas being hit by Rita produces 25 percent of our refined Gasoline. Gas prices will soar again. Some Say as high as $4 to $5 a gallon within the next two weeks as gasoline supplies dwindle. I would suggest to fill up your cars today and conserve fuel.
