Halfstep Denise Posted September 5, 2005 Posted September 5, 2005 What a bummer! I live about 90 minutes from Sacramento, but the timing is terrible! My husband has to work tomorrow until 5:30 p.m. and he's not only my husband, but he also provides my transportation. I would have enjoyed meeting other CA members. Maybe next time! Moderators LynnDel Posted September 7, 2005 Moderators Posted September 7, 2005 There was quite a crowd at the Addis Ababa tonight, as you can see in the photo. It was great meeting Stan and talking about this and that, and watching him struggling with the logistics of how exactly to transport injera and wat from plate to palate. Really, I wasn't watching, Stan. Not at all!!! What we really need is a video clip! At the rate I'm meeting C/A folks I'll have to meet most of the rest of you in heaven. Paul Beach Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Dear individuals, Regretably Mrs. Gray will be unable to attend due to a prior engagement and geographical considerations. Should someone decide to hold one at a more opportune time and place, she will inevitably appear. Sincerely, Mrs. Gray Quote

aka Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I pondered, thought it over, and came to the conclusion that you two don’t look like Seventh-day Adventists. Because…. while there doesn’t seem to be any world standard Seventh-day Adventist “look”. I also came to the conclusion that my warmth in acceptance of both of you has nothing whatsoever to do with each your own visual “bodily” display. It's more the intangible Christian-like values and attitudes shown in Forum messages by you two that has formed my love to a higher level. Pictures don’t improve or lessen my heart’s condition of choosing to love my brethren. If you all showed scars or disfigurement I wouldn’t reject or disapprove of you at seeing your picture or eventually meeting in 3D. What does interest me in a high level of curiosity cat-like, is if one of you chose from the veggie menu any one of these offers : Ye Miser Wot (Lentil stew spicey hot) Ye Atakilt Wot (Garlic and ginger over potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbage) Ye Kik-Alitcha (Garlic, ginger, onion over yellow splitpeas or split garbonzo beans) Shuro-Wot (powdered chick peas roasted with sauce and oil on top) Gomen Wot (collargreens cooked in sunflower oil, herbs, spices) Or combination samples of all the above on one plate? Did they play Arabic music in the background? hmmmm, aftermeal expresso and a good smoke on the water-pipe,eh? Turmeric Quote
Moderators LynnDel Posted September 7, 2005 Moderators Posted September 7, 2005 Don't look like SDAs??? I'm shocked at such an accusation!!! There was appropriate non-western music being played. No one was shoulder dancing. Too bad, 'cuz it's instructional to watch. We had lots of wots, but none of them were high voltage. LD Quote LD

Paul Beach Posted September 8, 2005 Posted September 8, 2005 Dear individuals, When it comes to the Adventist look, Mrs. Gray has observed that truly Adventist women, not worldly women, dress plainly and wear no makeup or jewelry. That is the sign of true Christianity. Also, one will not see them eating animal flesh or drinking caffeinated beverages. There are exceptions to the rule, but those are, as they say, exceptions. (Please note that this general rule does not apply in San Francisco.) Sincerely, Mrs. Gray Quote
Administrators Naomi Posted September 8, 2005 Administrators Posted September 8, 2005 Dear Mrs. Gray, Glad to know there are exceptions. Naomi Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
