You are considering the hope that those whose hearts are not motivated by the Holy Spirit, would act like Jesus would under similar circumstances. It just won't happen. Moderators LynnDel Posted September 8, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 8, 2005 I can imagine there were cases where the elderly family member said, "You can't save me without all of us losing our lives. You go on ahead, save yourselves, save the kids. I've lived a full life. I love you. See you in heaven." What a dilemma - what would you do? I'm glad it's God who judges our hearts. Amelia
Now a report that a nursing home was found with the elderly left in their beds to drown after the employees evacuated. Administrators Gail Posted September 8, 2005 Administrators Share Posted September 8, 2005 It's amazing what people do when urgency and calamity press in For a long time I've thought Why do we talk against the ancient Israelites for behaving as they did in the wilderness? If we were in their shoes, I doubt we would have been any differently. I probably would have been one of the first to pine for the garlic and leeks of Egypt I couldn't begin to predict how folks will react in an emergency, sick as it sounds Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. Robert
Quote: Gail said: I couldn't begin to predict how folks will react in an emergency, sick as it sounds Shocking statement, but true....We are rotten folks....The love of self dominates our being and without our submission to the Spirit of God we would do the same thing. LifeHiscost
Quote: Barbara said: May be they choose to stay behind. Good thought, Barbara. And knowing to some extent how far our Father is willing to go (the death of His Son), to save the least deserving, I should have at least added, 'unless they repent'. [:"red"] "And Jesus said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were greater sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered this fate? "I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. " [/] Luke 13:2,3 NASB For me at least, to ask for repentance seems worthwhile. [:"blue"] But for the grace of God, there go I." Neil D
I was thinking about the "last days" and wondering how people will treat Christians in general.... Folks, look at New Orleans and see for yourselves how you and I MAY act when despirate measures demand despirate means to survive.... Are you able to survive that? I don't think that I could...... Dottie
I saw an interview with a doctor who had a van or bus and offered the nursing home owner a ride out for all of the residents, but she refused, and when she decided to go, it was too late. She possibly may have been one of those whose bodies were found.
Fran
I believe I heard on the news that the owner of the nursing home died there also. Quote The greatest want of the world is the want of men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true & honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty..., men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall.{Ed 57.3}
