Hong Kong Disney is TOO CROWDED

Disney will not officially open until Monday, but they had their "soft" open a month ago and have had two weeks of "rehearsal" runs at near-capacity crowds. We have a friend who works there who gave us tickets for Aug. 31. We went and enjoyed it, though it was very hot that day (32 plus direct sun and high humidity). The boys wilted pretty quickly in the long lines. But we thought, hey, this is Disney, there are lines, right?

Apparently, the lines only got longer. Sunday there were 2 hour long lines for some of the rides (the longest wait time we saw was 90 minutes, which we passed up) and the food lines were about as long. Which wouldn't be that big a deal IF Disney allowed you to bring food into the park--but they check bags before you enter.

Again, this IS Disney, and there ARE lines, but apparently the city, which owns a 57% stake in Disney, is "suggesting" that perhaps they lower the cap from 30,000 per day. We were thinking the same thing. Too many people in too small a park (you can walk from one end to the other in 10 minutes!).

Does have some good rides. Space Mountain of course (just about freaked my boys out on that one). Mickey's Philharmagic (3-D) was too cool--includes water and smells as well as the 3-D through the glasses. Several others were good.

Story about park tells about the park, including the feng shui that went into the design.

Cut the numbers of people talks about the protests after this weekend's capacity crowd.

Map is part of the official web page of Disney. Some of the people complaining about the size of the park (which is the smallest of any of them) could have found that out by checking out the map ahead of time. We knew it was tiny but we figured they would limit people accordingly. Well, there weren't 30,000 when we went, but it was pretty full.

It will be interesting to see what happens.
