Dr. Shane
My niece Melissa went into the hospital due to complications with her pregnancy. They discovered her liver and some other organ wasn't working. During an ultrasound they found she had a tumor in the plecenta. So they had to remove it. During the surgery they found several other tumors and so they are currently doing a hystorectmy. If her liver doesn't start functioning again after the surgery they do not believe they will be able to save her. She is 24 years old. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane
I haven't been able to get a hold of anyone in my family. We are not telling my mother since she is currently undergoing chemotheropy. I would like to send some flowers to her hospital room but don't even know what town she is in. I doubt the unborn child made it since she was 12 weeks pregnant and had to have a hysterectomy. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Administrators Naomi Posted September 10, 2005 Administrators Share Posted September 10, 2005 Shane, It seems that we can never deal with one issue at a time. I do hope and pray that your mother's Kemo is working and she is able to deal with it ok. Hopefully you will locate your niece's family soon and relieve some of the stress you must be feeling. Dr. Shane
I got a hold of my sister, but she isn't the mother of Melissa. She said Melissa is out of surgery and they didn't have to do a histerectomy after all - at least not yet. The baby was a girl but was 18 weeks, not 12. They couldn't save the baby becuase its lungs were not developed enough. Has an 18-week unborn baby ever been saved? It was her kidneys that were not working as well as her liver. They don't know how those are yet. We will find out more later. I still don't have an address or phone number for her. I was her favorite uncle when she was younger but since her parents divorced some 10 years ago, we haven't seen each other much. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
