Moderators LynnDel Posted September 15, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 15, 2005 Included in the generic term "cosmetics" are a whole slew of things that are meant to keep your face looking the way God made it (plus the mileage you've added): moisturizers, lotions, night creams, sunscreen - that kind of stuff. The question now is, are there any body parts in the jar on my counter? LD Quote LD
aldona
Well, I feel like a freak now. I can place my right hand on a stack of Bibles and swear that the only thing that ever goes on my face is soap. I've never been interested in putting makeup and all that other goo on my face. Too much time and money wasted that can be spent in more interesting ways. Am I the only one? And this topic also brings out another anomaly I can't quite understand...many Adventist ladies would be horrified if they read the label of the food they were eating and discovered some kind of animal parts...but the veganest of vegan Adventist women quite happily slap anything on their skin without a thought, including whale oil, fish scales, bugs (shellac), pig by-products, stuff swept off the floor in slaughterhouses... ...and only start to object if they discover something totally gross, like bits from human corpses. aldona Quote www.asrc.org.au (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Melbourne)Helping over 2000 refugees & asylum seekers each monthIMSLP/Petrucci Music LibraryThe Public Domain Music Score Library - Free Sheet Music DownloadsLooking for classical sheet music? Beryl
I am with you, Aldona. So, let's enjoy the freedom of being "freaks" together!! In hot summer weather, my face perspires enough without having "goo" on top of it! Wrinkles? Someone told me they were "love lines". I like that! Fran
I believe I need to check Mary Kay stuff out really fast! Sometimes I use their products. Could I be a dead woman walking? Moderators LynnDel Posted September 16, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 16, 2005 You don't need to swear on a stack of Bibles, Aldona - I believe you are completely honest! I don't know what it's like in Melbourne. Is it humid? I very rarely sweat on my face; it's too dry around here. I absolutely avoid using soap on my face because when I use it my surface cells all join hands and say, "Stand against the foe!" -- and my skin becomes a crispy mask and starts itching. Sometimes, for some people in some places, lotion (goo if you like) of some kind is needed. I'll go soapless, you go gooless, and we'll all be friends, OK? Fran
LynnDel; Mary Kay has the best moisturizer I know. It is called Night Cream. Very good for dry skin, I just haven't found out what it is made of! Put it on at night and wake up to a very smooth face. I have used it on some of my scars with good results. The skin is less tight and hard. It is wonderful for dry heals, hands, legs, elbows and anything that is dry! I understand her father used her products to keep saddle leather soft or something like that. (??) It is sold in a white jar and is a darker pink and is translucent . In small amounts you can see through it. It comes in a jar and is not a cream as one would think of maybe Pond's Cream. It is hard to explain. The jar lasts forever! A small amount goes a long way. Mary Kay is based in Dallas. I used to pass by them everyday going to the Department of Justice to work! Surely they can tell me, but will they tell me the truth???? cricket
Soapless, gooless? Priceless! Did you know that nearly all soap contains animal lard? Pig fat...not kidding! It's the lye part of the soap. Which is worse? Using leftover parts from animals, or leftover parts from humans? I'm not sure I have the answer to that question. So, I'll just go stew over the thought as I sleep in a bedroom with innumerable dead skin-cells floating around in the air. Maybe the dust mites can whisper the answer to me while I dream! Fran
Ugh! Shall I never bathe again? Oh my! I believe toothpaste is next! I need to go to bed and pretend I didn't read this for a day or two. Does all soap have these things in them? Probably just the great smelling ones, right? That would be just my luck! Hello organic. Michelle
I have to agree with LynnDel. A lot depends on where you live. When I grew up in Colorado/Wyoming, we used lotion all the time on hands, arms, legs, etc, because otherwise the skin just dries and cracks. You don't sweat. Well, if you do, it evaporates immediately. YOu use a swamp cooler, not an air conditioner, because it cools the house faster. For the last 10 years, I have lived in very humid climates. We have dehumidifiers and a/c in every room. I never put lotion on and have to remember to take along a cloth for face wiping when going somewhere where it's hot and in the sun, because nothing evaporates here. If you've never lived in both, it is hard to imagine the other. But skin care is completely different from one climate to the other. Amelia
Friend, placenta is usually found in products that claim to make your skin younger/healthier looking. You can also get placenta in capsules at vitamin stores. Derrell M
Thats right Birm. It raises the question in reasonable minds: since the bodies of dead prisoners are a source of revenue, could the Chinese judicial system make decisions that generate dead bodies based largely on their monetary value?
