Dr. Shane
For those of you that follow hurricanes, keep on eye on Rita. She is now headed for the Florida Keys and is forcast to hit either the Texas or Mexico coast at the end of the week. I don't like those hurricanes that come in from the east as they can pick up more speed and power coming accross the Gulf of Mexico. Most that come to this area come in from the Southeast and have to cross the Yucatan first which slows them down a little. Michelle
Wow, looks like you're in for it! Maybe you can get a picture of your town like the one I've seen of Kauai in Iniki--there is a clear photo of Kauai through the eye of Iniki. So what precautions are you taking? Dr. Shane
Luckly I don't live in a corrupt area like New Orleans where the politicians take hurricane preperation funds to award contracts to their buddies. Our area is well prepared. Our lives are not in danger. It is our property that is in danger. But it could hit any where from Galveston to Tampico so we will just wait and see. My guess at this point is that we have about a 20% chance of it hitting us. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane
If you look at my first post you can see they are now projecting the hurricane away from us and into Houston. I think we have a couple members that live there. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted September 20, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 20, 2005 What is the URL for that hurricane map?? I have a friend in Hawaii and he said today three hurricanes are bearing down on them. I'd like to look at a hurricane map. Michelle
Jeannie--you could do a Google search for a hurricane map. This is one of the results that you may want to check out. http://www.solar.ifa.hawaii.edu/Tropical/tropical.html
Moderators Bravus Posted September 20, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 20, 2005 Rita is apparently up to Category 2, and some of those who were evacuated from New Orleans to Houston are apparently being further evacuated to Arkansas. Man, tough to be those guys... Quote Truth is important
Amelia
According to natural weather service, there are no watches, warnings, or advisories at this time for the Hawaiian Islands. http://www.prh.noaa.gov/pr/hnl/ Quote
"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you." Eph 4:29

Fairview Or
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted September 21, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 21, 2005 Thank you, Amelia and Michelle. That's reassuring - for Hawaii, at least. Looks like Texas is in for another beating by Rita. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
