Dr. Shane
Tons of British aid donated to help Hurricane Katrina victims to be BURNED by Americans
Quote:
The food, which cost British taxpayers millions, is sitting idle in a huge warehouse after the Food and Drug Agency recalled it when it had already left to be distributed. Scores of lorries headed back to a warehouse in Little Rock, Arkansas, to dump it at an FDA incineration plant. The Ministry of Defence in London said last night that 400,000 operational ration packs had been shipped to the US.

Now that is a nice way to make friends. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Derrell M
According to this article it has been cleared for distribution. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,23889-1773364,00.html Quote: A Cabinet Office spokeswoman said: “The United States Department of Agriculture has cleared ration packs for onward distribution. Meals from all EU member states have been cleared.” However, British defence staff are furious that the delay prevented the rations from reaching the refugees for whom they were intended until this weekend. One member of the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Logistics Organisation, which helped to organise the airlift, said: “Can you imagine how this is going down at our end? People were working their butts off on Sunday and Monday to make this happen. This aid wasn’t volunteered. The US asked for it.

Moderators lazarus Posted September 21, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 21, 2005 I wonder what would have been said if the folks in Indonesia, India and Sri Lanka had burned food that was sent from the US during the Tsunami situation. Derrell M
Well, I suppose worse has happened. The Somalians didn't destroy the food that was sent to them, they just killed the people who brought it.
Moderators lazarus Posted September 21, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 21, 2005 Oh well, we're not as bad as THOSE SOMALIANS so thats ok. Oh yes, I can remember all those mothers with the starving children in one hand and with with the AK47's in the other shooting at the UN helicopters that were bringing them food! The word "they" covers alot of people! Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Derrell M
How true. This hurricane situation has demonstrated it to be far more inept than I ever thought... and I thought it was abyssmal. They will doubtless try to remedy it by adding new agencies and increasing the size and scope of the existing ones.
