google your own name

Neil D

Recommended Posts

Just did a google on my name....

According to Google, I am a repairer of army vehicles,

a artist/painter/designer, a state patrool man from Washington State, and I graduated/attended Pacific Union College Prep school in 1972....

And none of the above is true about me. Although it may be for all the Neil Dewey's out there in the US.

And you can google your own address, and zoom in on an aerial view of your house.

Only good for the US - at least no persons with my 2 names and middle initial are listed in the US! Same for google earth, I can find the pictures but typing in the address does not work. And in Australia, Sydney is well covered but for other places the resolution is not good enough to see individual dwellings clearly.

Whether all that is good or bad I have no idea <img src="/ubbtreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

One of the advantages (or disadvantages!) of having a rarer name and spending lots of time on the net is that if I google my name the first couple of dozen hits are all me, and the first couple of hundred are mostly me, with most of the others being lists of people in which one person has my last name and another my first.

Mine is like so (you can make yours anonymous if you like):

david geelan is a postdoctoral research scholar at edith cowan university

david geelan is sue's husband and cassie and alex's dad

david geelan is an assistant professor in the department of secondary education at the university of alberta

All me, I'm afraid.

Wow--zabasearch.com found a lot of people with my maiden name that I didn't know existed. Wonder if we are related? We have a tiny family that immigrated from Germany in the 30s. However, it didn't find my SIL with her married name, though it has my brother (also, another female member who married into that name).

I do find myself twice, under my previous address and the address under which my US business is transacted. However, my DH's listing includes addresses back 13 years. Wonder why mine doesn't. I feel left out. frown.gif
