Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted August 17, 2013 Author Moderators Share Posted August 17, 2013 It is essential to read what has actually been written and with an open mind. When I first posted the URLs to the documents, I was unable to download and read them. I was able to fix that this morning and to read them for the first time this morning. I chose to open and read the writings of two persons who have been popularly presented as taking a position with which I do not agree. I was quite surprised at what I read: 1) They both presented arguments that I had not seen presented before and therefore had not considered. 2) Both restricted certain actions to ordained males, one of which was baptism. 3) However, one stated that in extraordinary situations even lay people could baptize. I assume that he included females in these extraordinary situations. 4) Both agreed that females could be ordained to a lower level of action than males--one preferred to call it "commissioning." 5) Both agreed that females could pastor and evangelize. I could list some other things. My point is that both agreed with me on some points, which as I do not believe have been recognized by others who hold them up as defenders of the Bible and both made comments that I had never considered. While I may not swing over to their major position, I have something to learn from them. I will continue to read, study and consider what they and the others have said in these documents. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted August 17, 2013 Administrators Share Posted August 17, 2013 We must pray that the HS blesses all of the committee with that spiritual gift of an open mind and open heart. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
