pierrepaul
A pedantic point of precision. This was not the Throne Speech (or Speech from the Throne). The actual Throne Speech is delivered by the Governor General, not the Prime Minister (the Prime Minister is the gentleman featured in the video posted above). Following British tradition (English actually, the Scots and Welsh had little to do with it), the Throne Speech is delivered in the Senate Chamber (analogous to the House of Lords). According to tradition, neither the monarch nor his/her representative, the Governor General, ever sets foot in the Commons, which since the beheading of Charles, is off-limits to royalty. Quote God never said "Thou shalt not think".
