Members phkrause
This report by Billy Hallowell of The Blaze details how Texas police are offering prostitutes a way out of their lifestyle. They're being given an opportunity to choose between incarceration or going to church ... jail or Jesus. pierrepaul
Interesting. A review of prostitution is most countries shows that criminalizing the offer of services does not work. Arresting prostitutes is utterly futile, and the public criminal record of these women, along with their experience in the judicial system, diminishes their chances of escaping their current lot. Some jurisdictions like Germany and the Netherlands have moved to legalization and regulation, removing the offer from the streets. , while others like Sweden have criminalized the purchase of sexual services. By decriminalizing the offer, the women are no longer in fear of arrest, incarceration and prosecution. In theory they will be more likely to seek help, including help from the police. On the other hand, by criminalizing the demand, the state avoids giving its approval to prostitution and creates a legal deterrent to the sex trade. The Canadian Conservative Party adopted a resolution along these lines at their recent policy convention. Of course, party policy is not binding on the government or the party's MPs.
