Doubling Down On Race Politics: White “Knockout Game” Thug to be Prosecuted for

If the man is guilty of assault he should be severely punished, just like all the other assailants (Allegedly the moron recorded the crime, so his guilt seems to be a given at this point). But the color of his or his victims skin should be invisible to the law.

Federal authorities said Thursday they have arrested and charged a Texas man in connection with the “knockout game,” accusing him of a hate crime for targeting a black man for a vicious street attack.

Most knockout victims that have appeared in news reports have been white, but the Justice Department said in this instance the victim was a 79-year-old black man, and stepped in with federal charges.

“Suspected crimes of this nature will simply not be tolerated,” said Kenneth Magidson, the U.S. attorney for the southern district of Texas. “Evidence of hate crimes will be vigorously investigated and prosecuted with the assistance of all our partners to the fullest extent of the law.”

The Justice Department said it filed a criminal complaint against 27-year-old Conrad Alvin Barrett on Tuesday and arrested him on Thursday.

According to Justice officials, Mr. Barrett recorded himself on his cellphone attacking the 79-year-old man, laughing and saying “Knockout” as he runs away.

The 79-year-old man had his jaw broken in the Nov. 24 attack.

“The plan is to see if I were to hit a black person, would this be nationally televised?” Mr. Barrett says in the video, according to the authorities.

The Justice Department is a hate crime. And Mr. Eric Holder, from the time he was supporting the fiery executions in Waco, lobbying to prevent Congressional hearings about the OKC bombing, covering up the Trentadue murder, or sending rifles to Mexican drug cartels, has been a nested hater in that bureaucracy.

I hope Barret get a horrible sentence. If he is a repeat offender it might even be right to execute him (at the age of 27, that seems likely). My only qualm about his sentencing is that he probably will never contribute a penny to his victim’s medical bills, let alone pay him any damages. Instead, that taxpayers will be forced to support the scumbag in prison.

But to add Federal charges against a white offender, while showing no concern for the majority of such criminals is sickening.

I would be fine if the Federal government stayed out of criminal law enforcement altogether. States are the places where that stuff is supposed to be handled. But if they need to get involved it should be in a way that demonstrates color-blind justice, not that some people “are more equal” than others.

Notice that this is the same Justice Department that supports jail time for non-violent criminals who are mostly African American. If you want to see real justice, Rand Paul has a far better way than making some crimes more severe than others based on race.
