Stan
Raul Sees Off Medical Brigade Traveling to Sierra Leone Created on Thursday, 02 October 2014 12:03 | Hits: 152 | Yoandry Tamaño letra: HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 2 (acn) The President of the Cuban councils of State and Ministers, Raul Castro, said good-bye at the capital's Jose Marti International Airport to 165 health professionals who traveled to Sierra Leone to take part in the world struggle against the Ebola fever virus, which has so far caused the death of thousands of people in Western Africa. On Wednesday night, the Army General shook hands with the Cuban health workers to bid them farewell, the Granma newspaper reported on Thursday. The group is made up by 63 physicians and 102 nurses from the entire country, with over 15 years of experience. About 80 percent of them have worked in other nations in internationalist missions, many of them precisely in Africa. On this occasion, the leadership of the medical brigades that will travel to Liberia and Guinea Conakry also left Havana, to create in these nations the conditions necessary for the arrival of the Cuban health workers. Also saying good-bye to the 165 health professionals at the Havana airport were Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and Vice-president of the councils of State and Ministers, and Roberto Morales, Minister of Public Health. Members rudywoofs (Pam)
will the presence of more physicians and nurses in Africa really help curb the Ebola epidemic? It seems that what is needed are people who have experience in clean up and HazMat procedures, as well as organizational experience for population-wide education on health practices to avoid exposure.. the healthcare aspect (I thought) was already being addressed as well as it could be... Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
