Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted November 3, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 3, 2014 You will not believe the following: http://www.warbirdsnews.com/warbird-articles/wwiis-b-17-all-american-separating-fact-fiction.html In actual fact, as the above story has been told over the years, it has taken on some fiction. The above webpage attempts to sort the truth out from the fiction. The truth that remains is unbelievable. That truth is worth considering, if you are willing to read the entire article. joeb
I'm not familiar with this story, but what follows in the book I'm giving a link to is even more incredible. A German fighter ace flying a Messerschmitt 109 ends up escorting a US bomber out of German airspace far enough so that they will not be attacked by other German fighters or antiaircraft fire. This book tells the story of the lives of both of these pilots and the story of how Franz Stigler came to the point of committing what was perceived as treason to save the lives of his enemies. This is a book that I cannot recommend highly enough. http://www.amazon.com/Higher-Call-Incredible-Chivalry-War-Torn/dp/0425252868 Quote Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.Alexis de Tocqueville
