We are going to attempt to make amends with my mother...

She gets to see her Ozzie Granddaughter, and grandson, Son and Daughter in law.... We hope to say something meaningful this holiday.....

I will be alone this thanksgiving. Not going anywhere.

We will be at home. Kids will be over with 2yr old granddaughter. Just looking forward to a day off!! Hoping that the foolball game will be a good one.... Then, back to the salt mines on Friday while the rest of the country shops.

Will be thinking of you, Neil, and hope that things work out with your mom. Those relationships can be tricky sometimes.

For the first time in years, I won't have to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Now that I'm alone, it's simpler logistically just to join one or more of the children, and they always make sure I'm included somewhere.

This time it'll be at my daughter's in-laws' home, along with their extended family.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Were you close enough, you would be welcome at our house.

This will be a quiet Thanksgiving for us. The kids all have plans or are out of the house, hubby just had all his lower teeth pulled today, so won't be eating much, but we are having a friend over, and there will be 5 adults being thankful.

Now wasn't that nice of Clio to invite you up to her place, Amelia?

I thought that was really sweet. A plane from Oregon to Alaska shouldn't cost that much, surely.

I bet you'll remember the Alaska thanksgiving week-end for years afterwards.

I looked at the LuLu site in your signature and saw this...

[:"red"]"Born out of a mother's desire to instill a deep and abiding love for God in her daughter's hearts, this meditation and devotional book speaks to the heart of every young woman embarking on life on her own. Covering topics from salvation by faith to waiting for the right marriage partner, A Mother's Heart will speak to yours no matter whose daughter you are."[/]

What a beautiful legacy, endowment, heirloom, inheritance and Christmas gift when your 18 year old gets the wrapped book as a present sent to her direct from you.

Absolutely unique and precious gift.

I hope so. I really do. Did you read any of the excerpts on the site? I have my copy of the book now that I'm giving to my daughter, and I can always get more. I was soooo pleased with how the binding and cover art turned out. When I approved it, it was kinda hard to tell how the cover would look.

Amelia, if you come for the Thanksgiving weekend, be sure and bring some REALLY warm clothes. Oh... and snow boots.

We just got 4 or 5 inches of new snow last night, and since we won't see temperatures north of 20 above until next March at the earliest... well... warm clothes and boots are a must. Actually, we probably won't see 10 above until next March, and when we do, we'll all go running out into the snow in shorts and jackets. That's warm after months of -20 to -40 or colder temperatures!

Husband and I don't celebrate the last Thursdays of each annual November as Thanksgiving day.

We open up for our own choosing special days during the year for celebrating thanks we've experienced in blessings over time.

It is apart of our marriage-health management maintenance.

We have certain rituals of writing down each his own list and reading it out loud before a candle-light meal. During the meal there's reminiscical talking. When finished we burn the lists in a glass bowl as symbolic offering of thanks to God.

We then pray our thanks to Him and go for a walk outside afterwards.

However, nary a year goes by without this Forum getting on the Thanksgiving day topic thread. That activates me to consciously think of all you folk who are putting efforts into this Thursday in November as Family fest. So today I will be imagining in my mind as graphicly as I can my answered prayer for each of you to have lots of love, lots of good talk, lots of good eats and lots of peace in the family as you gather around to interact socially one with another.

Hope

Greetings,

As for myself, I had planned on returning and going to Okla to be with all of my familyt. However, I have such an awful cold and fever that i am staying home and thankful to have a home.

I really wish I could go, but am three weeks behind on work so I suppose it is just as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to all,

Naomi

Yesterday we drove 12 hours to get to Atlanta to spend thanksgiving with my sister.

We nearly didn't make it cos some pschotic trucker tried to kill us! Well actually, he crossed over into our lane and drove me off the road. The lives of my tropical fish flashed before me!

We plan to sleep, eat, give thanks, sleep and eat. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif

Happy Thanks give to everyone and I hope that your thanks will abound to God for His mercy and love. Bless your families as you have been blessed.

Hey Lazarus, we will be in the Conyers area today, that's about 25 mins from ATL. enjoy your Thanksgiving and God bless you.

Amelia, have a blessed day today. I will be thinking of you.

It is difficult to be alone on special days like today, and while I am not alone, some very important parts of my immediate family are missing, for the first time. It is an inkling of what is to come barring Jesus' imminent return.

I do wish we were not separated by so much distance. My desire to include you in our holiday has not lessened. And you would be very welcome.

Well we spent all of Thanksgiving on planes flying from Hyderabad India, to Mumbai (Bombay) India, to Frankfurt Germany, to Los Angeles California. However, we were blessed with almost empty planes so we could sleep whenever we wanted which was nice.

Indian cuisine is fantastic,....but after every type of curry imaginable we were craving things like beans, salads etc. (You can't really eat the salads there as the water is not potable that the restaurants use). Upon landing we didn't find any Taco Bells' open but found a "Del Taco" open. Bean burritos never tasted better. My niece is flying out back east in a few hours, so we are cooking up two big pots of rice and beans to eat for breakfast. Ya, I know that sounds crazy....but remember I was raised as the child of missionary parents in the hispanic countries...so we REALLY missed our rice and beans. lol Do ya also have any idea how good lettuce tastes...just plain lettuce when you haven't eaten it in almost a month?

I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving!

Hey Taylor, Glad you made it home safely and the planes were not crowded. I arrived a daiy earlier and had some sort of rather harsh caugh & fever; I suppose it is a virus thing. It was bad enough that I stayed home instead of going to be with my mother, brother,& children. It is good to be home ... but I must say (unfortunately for my weight) I was not food deprived. I love cabbage soup so on my trip I didn't miss most of the foods which I enjoy.

So sorry you aren't feeling well! I will pray for you. I also loved the food in India, it was just that....it is all seasoned with at least the same basic curry seasoning and so was very ready for something that wasn't too spicy and that tasted differently. smile.gif

I hope you get to feeling better! Glad you enjoyed your food.
