Sojourner
I am not sure how the SDA in Singapore feel about the death penalty being enforced in their country for drug trafficking, yet its quite factual that if you get caught doing that in Singapore you are given the death penalty as a result. Several people from Australia have been caught trafficking in drugs in Singapore. Charges are laid, court cases are held and if found guilty beyond doubt, they are hung at dawn on a friday morning. When it is an Australian that is executed for doing it, there are generally protests via the media in Australia and the Anglican Churches in major centres will often toll their bell as some type of protest sign. https://www.facebook.com/ChristianEvangelicalTeaPartyMembers/photos/a.466792966741788.1073741828.466791280075290/749044918516590/?type=1&theater
Moderators Gerr Posted January 1, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 1, 2015 I have no problem with the death penalty for the crime of drug trafficking or for any other serious crimes. This is not a disrespect for the life of the criminal who, knowing the law and its consequences, willfully/intentionally flouts that law and jeopardizes the life and well-being of other people. The death penalty is about respecting the life and well-being of the innocent which western justice system seems to be forgetting. Years ago, we had neighbors who had gone to Saudi Arabia. We were told that your expensive belongings were totally safe in an unlocked hotel room. Why? The penalty for stealing was to have the criminal's hand cut off! So guess how much stealing is going on in Saudi Arabia or drug trafficking in Singapore.

One of the points that is made in the media is that it is made very clear not to traffick drugs into Singapore, airline staff go to the point of warning you as you board and unboard the plane of what their laws are, so people clearly break the law knowing what the outcome will be if caught.
