Members phkrause Posted April 20, 2015 Members Share Posted April 20, 2015 Holy Jealousy Obviously the word “jealousy” is laden with negative meaning, but when the Bible refers to God as having this attribute only holiness should come to mind. As Christians, we shouldn’t avoid talking about this because God’s “holy jealous love” for people is ultimately what compelled Him to send Jesus to the cross. JoeMo Posted April 21, 2015 Share Posted April 21, 2015 Many scriptures explain that God is jealous FOR us; not OF us. The difference is when we become jealous OF someone, it is generally a negative and potentially violent emotion, putting the object of the jealousy in jeopardy. When we are jealous FOR someone, it is generally motivated by a desire to "protect" or "preserve them. In this case, God's wrath is directed at the enemies of the ones FOR whom God is jealous.
