I can understand the viewpoint of whoever presented those statistics...

(I'm not a US citizen, so I will make no comment about whether they are right or wrong.)

But if I dared to post the above, I would immediately be labelled "anti-American". <img src="/ubbtreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

What about you, Amelia? Are you anti-American?

Or is that privilege only reserved for foreigners?

I really think George W. Bush will eventually be viewed as a good or even near-great President. He was certainly the right man to have in the White House when 9/11 happened. Jim

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

I know the question wasn't addressed to me, but no, the dubious "privilege" is definitely NOT reserved for foreigners. I've been labeled "anti-American" for speaking the truth about this corrupt administration on numerous occasions.

No, I am not anti-American. I think America is a great country. But I dont equate my country with my government. So I guess you could say that at times I am anti-government.

What it is is SPIN. Low income workers taxes were not decreased BECAUSE THEY DON'T PAY INCOME TAX. Everyone that pays income tax got a tax decrease. The higher the tax bracket, the bigger the the tax cut. It only makes sense that those that pay the most in taxes will gain the most when taxes are cut. Those that don't pay taxes won't gain anything.

There is a healthcare crisis in America. Bush didn't cause it. He did pass legislation for medical savings accounts which has helped some small businesses. More needs to be done, but Bush certainly can't be blamed for the crisis.

The tax rebate benefitted the middle class more than the upper class. Bill Gate's tax rebate was for $600. The same as mine. I can tell all that $600 did me more good than Bill Gates.

President Bush doesn't take more vacation than any other president has.

I am not a top. I don't spin.

Why? For attacking the wrong country? For eroding civil rights? For handing out billions of dollars to the wrong people? For running up the deficit? For increasing Halliburton's profits? For turning Afghanistan into a major drug growing country? For uniting the Arab world against the USA? For making most of the Western World dislike the USA? For dividing the USA into opposing camps? For creating the most corrupt administration of my lifetime? For making you take off your shoes and handing over your nail clippers when getting onto an airplane? For being the best recruiting poster child Al Queda ever had?

He utterly botched the 9/11 response. And most of the world and half the USA knows it.

Ok, since you are OBVIOUSLY stating 'fact' and clarifying the situation, let me clarify what you have said.

Sure, the poor don't pay taxes, but the taxes that were coming from the rich to shoulder the burden for child care of single parents who were attempting to get job training, has been elimanated, of which, the poor must come up with money to make up the differnce. Assuming that the child care is full time, the single mothers of this world, were just "taxed" $600 per month.

Since they will not be able to do that, they must give up thier dreams of bettering themselves thru education because they can not afford it.

The business' that were going to hire those same single parents, now have less resources to choose from. Thus, those jobs are remain unfulfilled. I am thinking specifically of nursing. In case you don't know it, there is a nursing shortage in this country.

And the care that you could have had, isn't there because the current nurse is over worked and can't keep up with her work load. Who knows...due to the shortage of RNs, you might die if you have a heart attack, and even though you push that nurse light, she can come, because she is busy with someone else on the other end of the ward....

That is only one result of Bushes tax cut.

No, Republican Bill Frist and his family did that ....

“Percentage of low-income working families…”

Hey! whadya know? there’re working people in America, after all…

“60%”

What’s the saying? Nothing in, nothing out?

“Children under 18…”

Not needed…, it’s free for the low income or the uninsured; it’s called Emergency, or Community Health Centers/Clinics (or even school nurses).

“Money borrowed by Government … tax rebate…”

Oh, the Laffer principle. Or, is it really the Kennedy principle? Anyway,

together with a pinch of Keynesian economic philosophy thrown in it’s hoary with pedigree, for what it is.

“Heading to your ranch for 30 days…”

Camp David, anyone? Any teachers out there? how many vacation days do you receive a year? Anyway,

where’s the Black Box while the Prez is in Crawford? and sheeshan! do any of us have stalkers dogging our heels during vacations? Yikes!

“There are some things that money can’t buy.”

Hmm, sounds like insufficient resources. The way I heard it told is...

there are not enough hospitals and beds, meaning -- too many Americans have insurance and are stacking up in Emergency Rooms.

When President Bush cut taxes he promised it would stimulate the economy. It has. Unemployment is now less than 5% - even after Hurcane Katrina destroyed an entire US city and it businesses (employers). That means more jobs for single parents.

Sure there are lots of jobs...jobs starting at minimum wages. ANYONE can get one of those....But if you are at minimum wage and you want to progress up the ecomonic ladder thru education, you want those same people to work at those same minimum wage jobs...Sorry, but time is at a premium and there is only so much of yourself to go around.

I could be crass and say that you have stuck your head into the ground and can not truely see what is happening...But I am tired of being crass....Of course, I am also tired of seeing this "I truely don't care" attitude.

Those foreign nurses have a thick ancent and don't understand the technical english medical words. And we have enough communication barriers with culture, language as well as medical education.

Republicans said the exact same thing about President Clinton. Some people just can't give credit where credit is due.

There are a lot of foreign nurses that speak excellant english waiting to come to the US. Many from India, Africa and Carribian nations have been speaking English since birth. Many nurses are needed in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California that are Spanish speaking.
