Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted May 14, 2016 Moderators Share Posted May 14, 2016 The statement made in the above post comes from the list 10 things for a married couple to do. While that list does have some value, I consider it to be simplistic and false. I consider it to be similar to what one might say: A life lived that is aligned with the will of God is certain not to require the services of a physician. Things may happen in one's life that are divorced from that life that is aligned with the will of God and may result in the need for clinical medical care. So, also people attempting to live a life aligned with the will of God may find themselves in situations where it is beyond their human ability to continue the marriage. In addition, statements such as that made in the OP may have the effect of giving people feelings of guilt over their perceived inability to endure the marriage and therefore assumed guilt over their inability to live aligned with God's will. We live in an imperfect world. Those imperfections have touched all aspects of our lives to include our marriages. There are consequences of that. We should look to the future and the ability of God to provide for us a future that is free of the sinful imperfections that we endure in this life.
