Twenty-two year-old Otto Warmbier has been released from a North Korean prison, evacuated to Japan and is being transported to the U.S. by a medical evacuation aircraft.

In March of 2016, Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years at Hard Labor for Hostile Acts Against the State.   According to the government of North Korea, also in March, Warmbier came down with a  case of botulism which resulted in him going into a coma, from which he has never recovered and remains to this day.

The United States has not issued any statement as to his medical condition other than his evacuation to the United States and expected return today.
