Democrats in Chicago now mandate high school kids must have their future planned

Recommended Posts

The city of Chicago has now mandated that all high school graduates must know who they are by the time they graduate high school.  HUH?  Really?  Government-mandated self-knowledge out of a teenager....  Can we say, 1984 knocking on your door?  You know, the lyrics of the song 1984 released by Spirit in 1969,  How about, Big Brother?  How about, government intrusion into things they have no business mandating, and cannot, in the name of justice and common decency, mandate that a teenager know about  himself/herself?  But since when has that stopped a socialist from "doing good"?

I could have no more mapped out the plan of my life by my high school graduation day than I could have flown to the moon under my own power.  I would not have been allowed to graduate high school under this big brother mandate.

This, people, is the sure result of socialism.  This is its goal.  Control everything.

Excellent idea:

Jermiya Mitchell, 17, a rising senior at Morgan Park High School on the South Side, said she has had few interactions with her guidance counselor. “We never had that conversation about life after high school,” she said. “I would like to have a counselor that really wanted to know what I wanted to do after high school and would help me get there.”

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Gary, this is the 3rd thread I've just read started by you where your credibility has been called into question. What's the problem?

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Its actually not the case that this people cannot map out their career/life plans when they are adolescents or any other age.  In fact; it makes good common sense to do so

Who said that no one can map out their life at a young age?  No one.  What I said is that many cannot do that.  There are many people who have no idea of who they are by the time they graduate from high school.  So, if a person is a victim of psychological abuse, physical abuse,  sexual abuse, or just mature late, etc... so that they don't know who they are and what they want to be by the time they graduate high school the city of Chicago will now punish them further.  Either that or make liars out of them by forcing them to lie about their plans just to get their high school degree.

How anyone can see a government mandate like this, which is a one size fits all mandate, as a good thing is beyond me.  The coldness and lack of caring expressed for those who cannot meet this mandate is pretty atrocious.

You mean you actually have to ask?  I thought you were smarter than that.  See, I was convinced by you all as to how much you people loved mockery.  So, I decided to come back here and mock a bunch of the ideas that are expressed around here just to get on everyone's good side.  For some strange reason it hasn't worked.

Seems like mockery isn't really appreciated by those here who say they love it so much.  They love to mock others, but don't really like it when their own ideas are mocked.  Who would have guessed that?
