Who can tell me  who the following person was?   If you can, please do so:

*  He was born on December 14 in 1503 and he died on July 2, in 1566.

*  He was a physician who worked at one time with cities and people who had the plague.   But, he is not well known for that.

*  He wrote a book first published in 1555, that has remained in print, in many languages to this day.

*  His book was written in French, but contained many Latin words.

*  His book was not a book of medical treatment.

*   Yet, his published works are studied today and with great interest by many people.

*  He was a poet who wrote in the poetical form known as Quatrains.

*  His written works of poetry, were not  known primarily for their poetry.

*  At the time of his death he was in a standing position, which is the position in which he was discovered.

*  His remains have been buried in a Catholic Church.

*  He was a devout Roman Catholic who was a personal friend of Pope Pius IV.

*  He fathered seven (7) children, three (3) of whom reached adulthood.

Additional clues:

*  Some people consider him to be a spiritual leader,  others do not.

*  I recently viewed  a 2-hour video of his life that was broadcast on TV.

*  He was expelled from medical school but he practiced medicine anyway.

*  He was a pharmacist (of his day and time) before he went to medical school.

For anyone who does not know about Nostradamus:

Nostradamus is considered by many to have been a prophet who, writing about 500 years ago predicted in detail specific events that are happening our the lives of people today.  As to the U.S. at the time he is supposed to have predicted events in the life of this nation, the U.S. did not even exist.

Part of the issues surrounding him is that he wrote his prophecies in the format of quatrains.  This gave them a lack of clarity which has allowed people to read most anything into them.  It is believed that he did this in order to escape being convicted of being a witch and  therefore sentenced to death.
