Ashton Scott

Please keep my co-workers new grandson, Ashton Scott, in prayer. Seems this little feller was born with a genetic defect that prevents him from digesting milk and is causing him (and his parents) problems.

He was born on April 10 and was released April 15 only to be admitted again to the hospital April 17.

When his grandmother shared this with me I first thought she said he was "lactose intolerant" but she corrected me and said "no he's GALACTOSE intolerant". Apparently he is missing 1 out of 3 enzymes that helps break down milk in order to digest it and that is what is causing the whole mess.

Thanks!

Oh THANK YOU Toni! I couldn't keep up with Gramma Bobbie when she was telling me about it. I did well to get the galatose part! icon_salut.gif

Here is the latest on little Ashton. He is presntly undergoing a 7 day antibiotic protocol and must stay in the hospital until Monday or Tuesday. He is taking the Prosobee formula pretty good, Bobbie said he is still spitting up some but nothing like he was. The pediatric specialist told them that he is a fortunate little feller in that this problem was discovered so quickly. Had this taken even as little as a couple of months, he could face serious lasting effects. The specialist feels he will be A-Ok. untitled.bmp

However, Gramma Bobbie and I were talking and she feels he will do fine for now since he is on formula but they are going to have to be really watchful with him when he starts taking on "real" food. Ashton's paternal aunt went online and has started collecting recipes for Lindsey (Ashton's Mother).

Thanks for your prayers and please keep this young family in prayer. Monday was his parents 3rd wedding anniversary and they spent it in the hospital worried to pieces over him. Ashton's parents are Lindsey and Scott.
