Rear Admiral (LH) R. L Jackson has withdrawn as the nominee to head the Department of Veterans' Affairs.  It should be noted that the Veterans' Service Organizations generally did not approve and they have a powerful voice.

A comment on his rank:

The U.S. Navy has a unique system of rank in which some Rear Admirals are a one-star and others are a two star.

A Rear Admiral (LH) is a one-star.  This is what Jackson is.  As was/is Admiral Bigger at Walla  Walla.

A Rear Admiral (UH) is a two -star.  That is what Barry Black was/is.

A Vice admiral is a three-star.

An Admiral is a four-star.

Just thought that all of our members would be wildly excited to learn that bit of trivia.
